spa day...

I had a really lovely afternoon at the Rain Urban Boutique spa opening in Rosebank.  It's owned by two pioneering young ladies: Amanda Johnson & Nicola Hopwood who despite, both coming from different professional backgrounds managed to conceptualise & create the exclusive women's only retreat hidden away behind giant glass windows in the middle of the Zone @ Rosebank.  I decided this year that I would allocate more of my "disposable" income towards skincare & wellness so I bought the range of esse skincare products they use at Rain & I am really loving them.  They are all natural, locally made, no chemicals, just delicious products & I've been using them for 2 weeks now.   Anyhoo this is not a Glomail ad so I shall stop right there:

The WKND Social x Faces

Part 1 of my latest snaps from this Saturday's WKND Social.
The theme was "The Love Hangover" - inspired by the bittersweet torment of heartbreak but it was everything but bittersweet. It was lovely. It was perfect. The End.

this girl is so cool it's nauseating!

I've tried so hard to avoid becoming a total Solange blipster groupie but she makes it so hard.  This girl is so effing cool!!!  I got so green looking at these shots taken for Elle Mag of a dinner party she hosted at her Brooklyn home.  Why is she living my life??  Seriously... why?? How is this fair??

This is just a sneaky extra - this is what she wore to the premiere of Girls Season 2.  What an... exciting.. outfit.  Only Solo!

Collective 2.0

If you're actually lucky enough to enjoy that mythical thing called "free time", a lazy day in the sun at the market is a great way to spend it.  This Sunday, I went to my favourite market in Kramerville - Collective 2.0 which sadly only happens once a month but is totally worth the wait.  It's organised by my good friend & market aficionado, Catherine Corry, who was involved in bringing us the Food Wine & Design Fair 2010 & more recently, the Neighbourgoods Market.
It's evident that a lot of love has gone into this project - the space (the rooftop of 3 Desmond Street) overlooks an endless view of the northern Johannesburg skyline and the selection of vendors has been so artfully curated that you almost forget that the goods are on sale & not just on display.
Next time you're there make sure you visit my favourite stalls: Henrietta Botha (jewellery), Kristin Weixelbaumer (jewelery & accessories), Maria McCloy (vintage, customised clothing & accessories), Cult Collective (clothing) & Red Oker (beautiful leather bags).
