Hidden Talent... The Showroom

I got this invite the other day & thought I should go check this place out and I was SO pleasantly surprised... had no idea this amazing gem of a boutique called The Showroom existed in our often stylistically starved city.  I must have looked like a crazed shopping addict in that place because as soon as I walked in I started spinning around the room, talking to myself, grabbing things off rails and piling them up in the fitting room.  Had a chat with the owner Donna and was even more flabbergasted to find out that this place has been open since NOVEMBER 2010!! I mean REALLY?!?! How did this get past me???  Anyway, if you haven't already, you should go check this place out.  They stock some of the well known South African labels like Black Coffee & Two as well as a few international brands like Cheap Monday, Melissa & Mink Pink.   Alos, it's at the Wrenrose centre right next to one of my favourite restaurants Voodoo Lily in Birdhaven so you can shop til you're starving then sit down for a lazy boozy lunch.  Oh my!! I almost forgot to mention, there's a gorgeous courtyard just behind the store that's used by the coffee shop next door... it's all just really pretty and girly and nice. There's really nothing wrong with this place.

The last breakfast...

I never thought I'd make it out of New York alive and to be honest... I barely did.  What a ride! My last night there is a testament to the madness that was last week. Now we just need to figure out a way to make this Summer in NY thing a permanent arrangement.  So many beautiful people and even more beautiful moments... I am actually in the depths of a depression right now trying to figure out how to create meaning in my life post New York.  This is a snapshot of my last 24 hrs there.  OBVIOUSLY I've had to edit some pics to protect my professional integrity but looking through my camera the next day was like that last scene of The Hangover when they review the pictures and piece together the night before much to my chagrin I might add.  Anyway, I'll let you fill in the blanks...

How gorgeous is this lady... the younger Sade...

And then I remember why I came home... at least I could bring a piece of NY with me... x

loveworldtour NY... an afternoon in Williamsburg

There are hot days... and then there are hot NEW YORK days.  The heat in that city is unlike anything I've ever felt since... well never actually.  It sticks to your body & weighs you down like Satan's claws pulling you towards the core of the earth with each passing step.  All the drama aside.. it's really really hot... but you get the point now.  So you must understand just how hard it is to have to rush around the city on some Amazing Race x KTV Reggies Rush vibe finishing off the last of my to-do list on my last day.   Needless to say I didn't get through it all but I did make it to the beautiful Paul Smith sale outlet in Williamsburg & then discovered some gorgeous little street side boutiques (my favourite of which was called Joinery..will tell u more about that later) & vintage stores and a great lunch spot where I had the yummiest salad I have ever had. And then we got caught in the most intense NY Summer rainstorm as we navigated the subways and sidestreets towards my last little shopping stint in Soho. These are the kind of days movies are made of... seriously...

These sweet potato fries are pure magic... from Lodge in Williamsburg

This is the salad.  I get hungry just looking at it now - also from Lodge

The next few pics are of the store I mentioned earlier called Joinery.  It really is one of the most beautiful little boutiques I have ever seen.  Although I didn't get the opportunity to meet her personally, I feel like the owner and I would have a lot to talk about.  It's owned by a lady named Angela Silva whose love of design and good quality materials drove her to personally select & source each item in the store and carefully curate them into one beautiful shopping experience.
